Cap du Carmil is a beautiful route through ridges and forests, with an incomparable view of the Pyrenees chain and the Mont Valier massif, the Pic des trois seigneurs and Bassiès.

Departure access: Reach the Col des Marrous by the D17 or the D51. Park in the car park at the pass. Departure: Take the paved access to the left of the holiday centre. Join the marked forest path "GRP® of the Tour de la Barguillère in Red and Yellow.

1 - Forest path

Continue on this continuous forest path. Cross a grazing area then woods to reach the Col de la Serre.

2 - Greenhouse pass

At the exit of the wood, come out on a track which arrives from the left. Turn right and go up to Col d'Uscla (signpost).

3 - Col d'Uscla

Take the middle path, indicated "Cap du Carmil": it is always the GRP®. Finally reach a fork.

4 - Bifurcation

Do not take the logging track on the right, but the path (flashy Orange marking). Continue for 500m until you reach an uphill forest track.

5 - Fence

Continue to the left and go up the track for a little over 1km. Find a grazing barrier (pedestrian passage on the left).

6 - Cape of Carmil

At the junction, continue straight on the grassy track. You reach the Pic de Fontfrède where the track becomes a path and you reach the Cap du Carmil by a short climb.
On arrival on the flat summit of Cap de Carmil, continue for a hundred meters to the south to see the valley of Massat below and the Col de Port on the left. Return by the same route.
