Take the Pyrenees chain, aim for the center, focus slightly to the east, that's it, you're there, you're in Ariège, in the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Nature Park. Welcome !

138 municipalities, a gateway town, Foix, and associated municipalities, the Natural Park represents half of the area of the department of Ariège. With a low population density in the mountainous part, it remains a dynamic territory, which offers many possibilities, both for living and working there (in particular by creating a business), and for having a good time!

In our mountains, some peaks culminate at 3000 m for that of Montcalm, 2800 m for the emblematic Mont Valier and its famous Arcouzan glacier. There is a remarkable and sometimes endemic biodiversity, of the forest, as well as beautiful areas of mountain pastures, high pastures on which graze herds of sheep, cows and horses. Transhumances are an opportunity to meet breeders and herds in a beautiful festive atmosphere.

The Park is also valleys, each with its own personality, villages at the end of the world and small dynamic towns with bustling markets, limestone hillsides that offer rich dry lawns sheltering many species of orchids, forests hardwoods, in short, a mosaic of landscapes to discover in all seasons.

The PNR and the Tourist Office do not have the same scope of action.
19 municipalities out of 138 are both part of the PNR and the perimeter of the Tourist Office. These are the municipalities located in the valley of Auzat and that of Saurat.

The actions of the PNR cover many areas, including nature tourism.
The Parc Valeurs brand shows the commitment of professionals to sustainable development. Find them here http://www.consommer-parc-pyrenees-ariegeoises.fr/
To discover all the natural and cultural riches of the Ariège Pyrenees, the Park runs the network of Park Centers, in particular Le Barri, Heritage House in Auzat.
Since 2022, the Park has been promoting the discovery of the night through a program of dedicated activities: night hikes, vigil, solar and astro observations with Arborescence, star evenings in particular at the Fourcat refuge...
