Located at the foot of the emblematic and world-famous pog of Montségur, the village of Montségur is on a site classified as a Grand Site Occitanie and currently in Operation Grand Site de France.

The current village of Montségur follows a medieval habitat which was at the top of the mountain. Erected from the end of the XNUMXth century, it had a square square (now the Caroulet district) which was lined with half-timbered houses that no longer exist today. On the current village square is the Church of Our Lady of the Nativity which was built at the end of the XNUMXth century and enlarged in the XNUMXth century. At the east end of the village is a belvedere (called Caroulet) which gives an unobstructed view of the gorges and the old glacial valley of Montségur. Many typically Montségur tales and legends from the evenings of the XNUMXth century have survived through transcriptions.
