KOVEL's artistic journey is that of research into the language of art. Starting from dreamlike compositions, in the full tradition of surrealism, it has resulted in the creations of today, which are pieces of pure poetry.

Originally, this artist had started to stage his dreams using composite materials, and also through a series of oil paintings.
His technique consists in using recycled materials, debris from nature or manufacture, to create paintings in bas-relief, a mixture of arte poera and ready made, which combine formal research and romantic evocation.
This is how he succeeds in making the connection between a rich and unbridled imagination, and his personal commitment to society: the assemblages he creates in one of the /orders of his own, of recovered industrial waste, reused as material support of his art, not only serve to build a universe through which the spirit slips away, escapes, flies away, they are also critical of a world of throwaways and outrageous consumption, a reflection on a society of the abandonment he experienced in Canada and in Europe.
Today, having gradually proceeded to a work of purity, abandoning genre scenes in his paintings, KOVEL produces compositions of infinite finesse, evocations and no longer descriptions, in which he plays on the differences of materials, of textures, the contrast between the iridescent surface of lint iron and an enamelled sandstone background.
Formal and literal writing work. plastic poems. Or how the writing of a delicate work can use raw and ordinary materials, just as Prévert's evocations use everyday words.
Freed from an overly pregnant discourse, KOVEL can pursue its quest for a poetic absolute.
