Penetrate the heart of the rock in this natural tunnel of 400m, along the river at the origin of this unique place in Europe... You enter part of the Mas d'Azil cave.
Recognized as an exceptional site by its spectacular dimensions, the cave has a pedestrian path thanks to a corbelled footbridge above the river, to discover the natural site.
The geological formation is very surprising, on foot or by car you discover gigantic rocks in the first huge cavities.
Cross this tunnel from north to south or vice versa, you will be surprised at the natural formation.
The construction of the road at the end of the 19th century made it possible to make important archaeological discoveries. This cave is a major place of prehistory in Ariège and today we can visit the upper cavities and discover an entire underground network once known to prehistoric men!
