Cap du Carmil is a beautiful route through ridges and forests, with an incomparable view of the Pyrenees chain and the Mont Valier massif, the Pic des trois seigneurs and Bassiès.

Step by step :
Take the path on the left towards the southwest (GR markings of
country).

• Pass in front of the Colony and climb to the Col de Laserre at 1146 m
altitude, which offers a breathtaking view of the Barguillière.

• Continue on the GR de pays towards the east to arrive at the Col d’Uscla.

• At the intersection of the D111, follow the path titled “Cap Carmil” towards the southwest. It climbs among broom and ferns before entering a coniferous forest.

• The path gradually narrows and leads to a wide path which goes up towards the south-west, bordered by the Caplong forest where the capercaillie lives. You pass under the peak of Jouels (1421m) and under the summit of Cap Long (1479m).

• The path continues to the summer pastures after passing a fence. It rises due south towards Cap Carmil, a vast summit offering a breathtaking 360° view: the Pyrenees range emerges from south to west,
from where you can observe Mont Valier. To the east, you can see the foothills and the town of Foix and to the north, a clear view towards the Toulouse basin.

• You can now retrace your steps and take the path in the opposite direction towards the starting point.
