HYPOCRAS is made in Tarascon-sur-Ariège by the Séguelas establishments, from father to son since 1870. It is also marketed in delicatessens and regional product stores in Ariège, the Pyrenees, France and also abroad. .
The recipe for HYPOCRAS is attributed to the famous Greek physician Hippocrates (XNUMXth century BC). Much later, the Christian knights, on the occasion of the first Crusades, were won over by this veritable "magic potion" and brought the Hypocras recipe back to the West. It is thanks to its pleasant flavors and its invigorating and even aphrodisiac virtues (it was said...) that HYPOCRAS became the fashionable aperitif in the Middle Ages, in particular.
