At the foot of the northern slope of the Tabe massif, opposite the Roquefixade castle, Nalzen is a commune where logging and pastoral activity are important.

Surrounded by forests, Nalzen is located on the pass which separates the Lesponne valley and the Pays d’Olmes. The village was an ancient convergence center serving as a stopover on the trade route between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.
