Located under the small cover in Mirepoix, the Art Gallery presents exclusively original works and reproductions by the artist Jean-Michel Canal. His graphic painting is specific, straddling pop art and street art, using controlled chance in the application of very bright colors. The different works are classified by theme.

The first theme presents works by the artist on Mirepoix (the cutlery, the cathedral, the bridge, etc.) and the region (Foix, the Canal du Midi, Carcassonne, Toulouse, etc.), the sites are treated in different pictorial styles.

The second series features musicians in the artist’s style. Whether they are timeless stars or complete strangers performing in the street (photographed by the author). The works represent both the character and his music through a delicate blend of abstract and colorful figurative.

The back wall is made up of more spiritual works such as the “Dryades” series which shows the forest seen on the other side of the mirror or “Ariège Holistique” which reveals the invisible in our forests and our mountains, all in digital production. , from photos taken by the artist.

Another series of abstract paintings full of energy which allows the artist new graphic and chromatic research which will enrich the pictorial writing of other themes.

With his past as a poster designer and advertiser, the artist presents you with a vision of our region through “vintage”, “neo retro” or “street art” posters, all original creations.

“Travel diary” works on Nepal, India and Cambodia complete this eclectic collection, always in dynamic harmonies, the works draw parallels for each country between the past with its thousand-year-old traditions and the present with its constraints contemporary.

At the Petit Couvert art gallery, you will be welcomed by the artist Jean-Michel Canal who will give you a real guided tour of his colorful artistic worlds. As a local, you will also be treated to many tourist anecdotes from our region.
