In December, we tested the Bains du Couloubret, a very cold Sunday after a good day skiing at Ax-3-Domaines. We finally took care of us! We took the time to have a good time, to relax! And THE ideal solution for that in Ariège is an outing to the Bains du Couloubret in Ax Les Thermes.

Gallo-Roman atmosphere in Ax-les-Thermes
We immediately liked the spa center with its large red columns!
Inside we find: indoor and outdoor pools with heated thermal water (no tap water!), Sauna, hammam, jacuzzis, massaging waterfall, swan neck, Frigidarium (water too cold!), Caldarium ( the opposite, hot water)
… And a little secret that we deliver to you exclusively: the massaging jets for the feet… are pure happiness. 80% of people who come for the first time pass by (these are not official figures, eh ...) You will find them in the large indoor pool, at the level of the aluminum bars (the 1st at the entrance to the pool and the 1nds at the bottom, before the equatorial shower). As they work intermittently one can easily miss them. Alright, hush! You keep it to yourself, we don't want there to be a queue the next time we go 😉

The Couloubret baths it is a real place of relaxation where you can - for once - think only of yourself. So go there as a couple or with friends.
These baths are very pleasant in all seasons but it is true that in winter, to be in a swimsuit under the snow, the tip of the cold nose and the warm body, it is a sacred moment.
You have 2 hours to enjoy it, undressing, drying, dressing included. Don't panic, it's well calculated and more than enough.
What about children?
As for children, they are admitted from 5 years old. You can bring them without any problem, they simply won't be able to access the first floor for 15 years (sauna, massage area, Irish-Roman baths and hammam).
Massage break in the wellness area
To prolong the pleasure it is also possible to book a facial or body treatment. From 25 to 50 minutes of pure happiness: oriental, Swedish, Californian massage ... a whole range of rituals to continue the pleasure of relaxation!
