A nature hike at the gates of the wild border
Accommodation is provided in four forest lodges and a guarded communal refuge. The ONF shelters were completely renovated in 2006 in the mountain tradition, retaining their original architectural features; their interior layout, allows comfortable stops on privileged sites: these buildings are exclusively reserved for Retrouvance hikers traveling in accompanied or in
free. The guarded refuge of Bassiès, overlooking the lakes and ponds of the same name, will reserve three small rooms for four people as well as a bathroom; in the common dining room, you will rub shoulders with other lovers of the great mountain spaces.

1st day
: Departure from the Auzat Tourist Office, climb to the old mining village of Sem. Meal at "la Ferme du Minier" and visit of the small museum of Sem. It is by the old mule track serving the disused galleries that the crossing of ancient royal forests will take place. A forest track will then lead you to the Col de Grail and its refuge at the end of this first stage.
Evening meal and overnight stay at the Grail refuge:

2nd day : Via the Lercoul wood, you will reach the crest of the Montagnette up to 2.047 m from the Pic du Garbié in Brésoul, offering a striking panorama over the Siguer valley. The easy descent of a rounded ridge covered with "gispet" will allow you to join a path which crosses the valley of Endron on a balcony. It joins, after a few wide bends, the small ski resort where you can "break the crust". The GR 10 then crosses the Bois de Cauderas, crosses the Goulier torrent then takes the Horizontal Path leading to the Brousquet fountain, terminus of a forest track that you will take to the Bertasque refuge, the end of your stage.

3rd day : On the way to the longest stage with the program on a path on a balcony path crossing ravines (or you may see a few isards), a steep descent with multiple laces to the hamlet of Pradières d'en Bas in the valley of Arties. You will then take the square channel leading to the beech forest of Sabouillet where you will have a meal break in the shade of hundred-year-old beech trees. Then you will continue along the square canal until you come back down to the hamlet of Marc for a guided tour of the Rucher du Montcalm honey farm.
A variant may be offered depending on the level of walking of the group: climb to the crest of Prunadiéres and the small refuge of the same name before starting the final descent leading to the characteristic hamlet of Mounicou, then reach the hamlet of Marc.
You will finally reach the Mouret refuge surrounded by its nursery and overlooking the Artigue canyon.

4nd day : After leaving the refuge and crossing the torrent de L'Artigue, a small climb gives access to the Canal Carré (thus called old aqueducts transformed into pleasant hiking trails), which leads to the vicinity of a hydroelectric power station . After the snack break, it will be the climb along the torrent and its waterfalls.
After the Stone Bridge, the route follows the superb Bassi7s lake system to end at the guarded refuge of the same name, in which the friendly couple of guards will have reserved three small rooms for you.
Dinner and overnight in the immense glacial cirque.

For this stage, transport by mule is planned in order to bring the essential "minimum" to the refuge and descend the next day.

5nd day : Climb to the Cabanatous pass, the Alate pond and the highest point of the hike: Mount Ceint which, from its 2 m altitude, offers a breathtaking 088 ° panorama of the Ariège mountain and its buttresses. Descent to the Port of Lers and the last refuge of the circuit: Terre d'Avenir, on the edge of the forest and pasture, facing the Pic des Trois Seigneurs.

6nd day : Via the woods of Freychinede and Soubrouque, after having skirted the classified Bernadouze bog, the balcony path joins the Tour du Massif des Trois Seigneurs, crosses the Col de la Crouzette to reach the picturesque village of Saleix.
After the picnic break, you will start the descent towards Auzat and will find the Tourist Office

Self-guided hikes (with logistics): from June 30 to September 15 (Excluding departure Monday)

Level : For average hikers (4 to 7 hours of effective daily walking) in good physical condition. The hike takes place on trails between 750 m and 2100 m altitude. The porterage consists only of the transport of business for the day.

The price includes : The provision of a logistician to the group. He is responsible for transporting luggage and bedding (sheets, pillows, duvets), delivering meals (taken from local innkeepers), serving them at the table, and maintaining the shelters. He will be able to inform you about the particularities of the route and its technical characteristics. It will also be your link with the valley, but in no case the taxi allowing access to the refuges!
Full board (including an aperitif and wine with the evening meals) from lunch on day 1 to lunch on day 6. Midday meals are based on cold "road" food, those in the evening are cooked and served. part of the mountain recipes.
Accommodation in 4 forest refuges completely renovated and made available exclusively to the group (nights 1, 2, 3 and 5). The night of day 4 in a guarded refuge where you will meet other hikers.
The possible return transport of all or part of the group from the Tarascon-sur-Ariège SNCF station to the Auzat tourist office.
Visits to the Sem museum and the Miellerie du Montcalm.
The meeting with an agent of the National Forestry Office who will make you discover the history of the valley and its natural spaces
The presence of a qualified mountain guide for the duration of the stay, nights included.

The price does not include : Personal expenses (purchases at the Miellerie, additional aperitifs, drinks in addition to meals in Bassiès, and any purchase of local souvenirs that will remind you of your week of hiking!)
