1 - Build a cathedral

After an observation around the cathedral and a visit, the children learn the construction techniques of the builders and are introduced to the 13-knot rope to draw the ground plan like an architect of the Middle Ages.

2 - Discovery of Mirepoix and the house of the consuls
13h30:
Visit through the medieval town of Mirepoix during which the children will learn about the heritage (sculptures, fortifications and medieval houses, gargoyles) through drawings.
15:30 p.m .: End of activities.
Educational goals :
- Apprehend and deepen knowledge in geometry.
- Improve the sense of observation.
- Orientation in space and time (Middle Ages, Renaissance).
- Learn to collaborate to use the 13-knot rope to draw the plan of the cathedral.
- Learning of technical terms (ogival crossing, stained glass, keystone, bastide, half-timbered house, moulon, modillon, etc.).
- Recognition and use of colors, counting, calculation.
Optional: Treasure hunt (Cycle 2) with supplement (€5): Orientation games through the streets of the town of Mirepoix in groups supervised by guides. With the help of a booklet, the groups must solve the puzzles proposed to find the treasure with the help of a compass, a map and a wind rose.
