Le domaine des oiseaux, a protected site in the immediate vicinity of the Hers. Placed on a migratory axis of the river, it extends over more than 60 ha including 2 ha of lakes. This natural park with ornithological vocation allows the observation of the avifauna, either from the grassy paths which skirt the lakes, or from specially equipped platforms.

ROAD ACCESS:
Motorway exit n ° 2 between Toulouse (52km) and Pamiers (16km). At the crossroads of the D11 and the D624 and D14, continue towards Mazères. At the entrance of the village, turn left and follow the signs "domaine des oiseaux". Pass under the motorway bridge and park in the 2nd fitted car park.
From Toulouse, by the RN 20, follow the direction Foix, then Saverdun, then direction Mazères.

1 - Departure

Head towards the Augé farm, home to the museum and the ornithological activity area.

Turn right twice in order to bypass the Augé pond and return to the D 11 passing the edges of the farm animal parts. Follow the road for about 300 meters using the developed path. Possibility of making an alter-return on the right as far as the Cluny pond observatory. Retrace your steps and take the path towards Mazères.
At the crossroads leading to Garabaud, stay on the path and continue straight on, leaving the estate on your right. You walk along the Raunier stream to the southern entrance to Mazères. This passage is cool and shaded.

2 - Join Mazères

Once you get to the road, turn left, then right onto Chemin de l'Espinet to get to the D624. Cross the road towards the stadium. Turn left into rue Jean Serie, continue straight ahead then turn right into rue René Cassin. You arrive at rue Jean Moulin. Turn left and continue straight, leaving rue Séraillou on your right. Continue the walk to the Faubourg St Jean and take the rue des sighs to the esplanade.

3 - Towards the ardouin museum

Viewpoint over the Hers valley. Turn left into rue de la République and join the Hôtel d'Ardouin which is located 2 meters further on your right. After the hotel, continue straight ahead. Cut the rue Gaston de Foix and continue opposite on the rue de la République. You bypass the old seminary at the back and turn left towards the public garden.

After crossing the garden, turn left into rue des Tierçiaires which passes in front of the entrance to the old cloister and take the 3rd street on the right, rue de l'Eglise. You arrive on Place De Gaulle where the market hall and the church are located.

Take rue St Sennen in front of the church, then go straight on rue du Dr Louis Couret. At the end of this street which makes a marked bend to the right, cross the road to go towards Abdon, Le Bascou and Mians. Cut the Raunier stream and the path taken on the outward journey. Continue on the road for about 5 meters, leaving a grass path on your right.
Further on, also on the right, take the path which returns towards the Domaine des Oiseaux. This path leads to a road. Turn right then at the bridge to the left.

Go over the bridge and immediately take the tarmac then stony path to the right which goes down to the ponds.

Return to the starting car park by following the path that runs alongside the Massuet farm.
