You go up the Ariège by the left bank to the gates of Tarascon-sur-Ariège. A first climb to the Col de Port before heading for the highest point: Péguère; where some portions reach 16% slope. Originally climbed by the Tour de France in 2012, it deserves its nickname "wall". Up there, take a break and admire one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Pyrenees before returning to Foix via the Col des Marrous, and ending with the bucolic valley of the Barguillère.
Please note that part of the circuit is closed during the winter. Consult inforoute09.fr before departure. Respect the direction suggested: the Col de Péguère on the way down is very dangerous.
