Located in the Artiès valley above Auzat, the Izourt pond is a dam lake built at the end of the 30s. Its construction was the scene of a human catastrophe in 1939 with 28 workers present on the site were killed. The buildings still present on the site still bear witness to this heavy past today.

Road access: Direction Vicdessos then Auzat. Pass Auzat, in the direction of Marc, then a few kilometers later, turn left in the direction of Artiès. Park in the Pradières-d'en-haut car park.

1 - Departure

Park in the Pradières car park from above after Artiès (small village after Auzat). This car park has a fairly large number of spaces.
Pass in front of the power station and join the crossroads of the paths at the level of the Artiés stream.

2 - Take the GR 10

Take the GR®10 (marked out Red and White) on the left along the right bank of the stream. This fairly shaded path presents a fairly steep climb but without any real difficulty.

3 - Izourt dam

You will thus reach the dike of the Izourt dam.

4 - Return

You can take the same path. You can also reach the left bank of the stream and go to the other side, passing under the dam. Cross the stream at the bottom of the water management hut (use the iron ladder) and join the crossroads of the starting trails.

5 - Arrival parking

Take the road back to the car park.
