This loop in the Valier massif will take you from beech groves, to summer pastures and then to high mountains; you will walk near the waterfalls, walk along high altitude lakes and see unique mountain cirques: chamois, marmots and large birds of prey.

From St-Girons, take the D618 then the D4 to Castillon-en-Couserans. Cross Bordes-Sur-Lez, 2 km later, turn left on the Ayer road in the Ribérot valley; 6 kms paved, then stony for 1 km will lead to the parking lot of Pla de la Lau (920 m) accessible to buses. Parking: Pla de la Lau

Signs Barlonguère - Peyralade - do not cross the stream, stay on the left bank 980 m alt.

Peyralade stream level 1 m alt, climb a short winding path near the Echelles waterfall. Exit the beech forest 033 m alt

Walk among the mountain pastures Cabane de Peyralade 1 m alt (700 places)

Cross the torrent The path climbs the right bank towards the South then towards the South-East in laces. Barlonguère pastoral hut 2 m alt.

Port of Barlonguère 2 m alt. Descend a scree Etang long 400 m alt.

Follow it along the secure left bank Do not take the east corridor leading to the port of La Clauère Go down north (secure path) to the Etang Rond 1 m alt.

Go around it on the right bank. (a marked path allows on the right, to join the refuge of Estagnous). At the spillway, the path oblique towards the North-West Cabane des Caussis 1 m alt (859 places)

Winding descent to the Nérech waterfall 1 m alt.

Then on the left bank of the Ribérot after the Tute de l'Ours, you walk through beech groves. And we find the way to go 1 m altitude.
