At the gates of Pamiers, this route is a wonderful way to discover the country of Pamiers and the Basse-Ariège while enjoying the magnificent site of the abbey of Cailloup. Without any real difficulty, it remains ideal for a family walk.
CAILLOUP WAY

ROAD ACCESS:

From the center of Pamiers, take the direction of Escosse-Saint-Girons to Ariège. Cross the Pont Neuf and take the second street on the left (wooden sign "hiking trail") as far as the Barès car park from where the start will take place.

1 - Departure

Take the path marked out in red and white which goes down to the Ariège river, and follow it to a wooden footbridge which spans a small stream. Go up to the right to find a path that you follow to the left. Go through a wooden barrier (and close it well) then walk along a large meadow to the old Cailloup Abbey.

After the building, turn left to cross a small stream. Join the edge of the Ariège and follow it to find the white and red markings that will guide you to the edge of the woods.

In the woods, follow the yellow waymarked path, which will lead you on the path to the Church, turn left and reach the Barès car park.
