Nestled in the heart of the village of Auzat, in the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park, the Maison des Patrimoines invites you on a fascinating journey through the history and rich heritage of Haut-Vicdessos. This old village house now houses rich and varied exhibitions, which retrace the life journey of the men and women who shaped this mountain region.
Immersive exhibitions to discover the riches of the territory.
As soon as you enter, you will be immersed in the captivating atmosphere of the temporary and permanent exhibitions which punctuate your visit to the Maison des Patrimoines. Thanks to a modern and fun scenography, you will know everything about the formation of the Pyrenees, discover the archaeological remains from the excavations of the Château de Montréal-de-Sos, you will delve into the history of the Rancié iron mine and relive the epic of aluminum which marked the region.
A unique vernacular heritage
The Maison des Patrimoines also highlights the vernacular heritage of Haut-Vicdessos, through models and old tools which bear witness to the know-how and daily life of yesteryear.
Guided tours and educational workshops for an enriching experience.
To deepen your knowledge and live an even more immersive experience, the Maison des Patrimoines offers thematic guided tours, discovering Montréal-de-Sos, the former fortress of the Counts of Foix, the mule trail to the old mine of Rancié iron, the aluminum path... Educational workshops are also organized for children and families, allowing them to learn about archeology, or discover the fauna and flora of the region.
