Fancy a unusual evening between friends ? I take you with me for a crazy evening at the mountain restaurant of the chalet de Beauregard in Guzet at an altitude of 1700 m! The must ? The ascent in the groomer to the restaurant which already transports you to another universe!

Guzet: la dolce vita in the Pyrenees

Looking for a natural, peaceful ski resort not too far from home, we rented one of the magnificent chalets in the resort of Guzet in Ariège for the winter holidays. Our favorite which made the difference between all the resorts in the Pyrenees? The cottage !

We could already see ourselves there before arriving! The authentic cozy wooden chalet, the flames in the fireplace, the steaming hot chocolates, the frenzied card games around the table, the delicious raclettes with Pyrenean tomme ... In short, all the atmosphere that we imagine for unforgettable winter holidays!

On the way to a memorable evening

After a great day of skiing for some, walks in the snow for others, the end of the day arrives! This evening, meet at the foot of the ski slopes of the resort, a few steps from our chalet at 19 pm to go to the "ugly sweater, 15s music" evening at the Chalet de Beauregard. It is with our snow boots, our hats and gloves, our warm coat and our most beautiful sweater that we leave. 80 people are already there. They are waiting for us.

In the distance on the track we hear a dull noise and we can see lights. It is our only means of transport to reach the restaurant which is arriving: La groomer! It is Paul, the Chef, himself who likes to pick up his guests for the evening. He parks a little further in the parking lot and comes to meet us. 5 minutes later we are installed aboard an old snow groomer ambulance from the 50s that he has fitted out to accommodate about fifteen people!

The evening begins in a good mood! During a twenty-minute journey, the discussions and laughter are rife in the back! We also try to find our way on the snowy path by starlight. The least we can say is that it is ATYPICAL and that the experience is excellent!

The groomer slows down and parks. Paul comes to open the door for us and we descend one by one into the snow. The setting is amazing. We can discern the snow-capped peaks that stand out from the sky, but we especially admire the spectacle above our heads: The Milky Way which seems to escape from these peaks.

After a friendly welcome from the small team, we take our seats in the altitude restaurant. Here it is a bit like home. The fireplace blazes, chandeliers and candles are enthroned on the tables, on the wall, antiques, old skis and snowshoes, earthenware dishes ... a cozy, warm and friendly atmosphere!

On the menu, traditional Azinat, cold cuts, beautiful ribs of beef grilled to perfection on the huge braziers installed on the terrace, deer burger, cheeses from the valleys… In short, a cuisine with mountain flavors and an Ariège accent! A delight !

A few minutes after consuming our dessert, the lights dim and the music rises. The evening is in full swing. Some are leaning on the bar and tasting the boss's digestives, others are swinging their hips on the dance floor. Conversations and the clinking of glasses are going well! Everyone has a smile on their face. Then, the long-awaited moment: the ugly sweater contest. Everyone proudly wears their best knit to win! I can still hear the laughter and the applause from the room, everyone is playing along!

It is already 23pm… After the last dance steps and the last drink, it's time to go down.

Adventurer at heart, I am a born globetrotter! In addition to traveling the 4 corners of the world, I like to walk in the valleys dear to my heart: those of Couserans. Attending a transhumance, a festival, buying my cheese directly from the producers or at the Saint-Girons market are some of my favorite moments.
