The Sabarat astronomy observatory located near the Mas d'Azil cave, one hour from Toulouse, offers a range of astronomy-related activities for everyone.
Throughout the year, a team of passionate activity leaders guides you and helps you unravel the mysteries of our universe.

These activities take place whatever the weather: reception and presentation of the evening, slide show, then observation of the sky with the naked eye and with instruments depending on the weather.
- Group and school activities during the day : during the week on request and also by reservation, the activity leaders are available during the day to help you discover the mysteries of the Sun (with observation) and the Moon, to teach you how to make and launch micro rockets, etc. Allow at least 3 hours for discovery and observation.
For any request for entertainment contact us by Tel: 06 22 17 04 98 or by Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
- Courses for all ages and Petite Ourse courses
(AFA Approved – Children's courses 8-14 years old): à la carte courses suitable for all levels: qualified facilitators provide training in 1 or more groups depending on the level of the participants. Number of places limited to 12 trainees.
You will learn to locate yourself in the sky, to observe with instruments the surface of the sun, the moon, some planets and deep sky objects… and the first notions of astronomy.
For people who have already had a first contact with astronomy, we also offer deepening courses in particular by the initiation to digital astro-photography.
These courses are perfectly adapted to a training of organizers of associative circles for the development of the astronomy activity (cf dates on our site).
- Exceptional: a 20km model of the solar system!!!!! The Sabarat observatory offers a single-scale model whose center, the Sun, is represented by its 6,3 m dome repainted yellow for the occasion.
The 4 telluric planets are spread over the access path to the observatory, the 4 gas giants are arranged over about twenty kilometers in the Arize valley. The planets are indicated by panels comprising the photo of the planet to scale with always reference to that of the Earth. You can explore this model on foot, by bike or by car and discover this beautiful valley which runs along the Plantaurel chain, the foothills of the Pyrenees.
The view from the observatory allows you to admire the Pyrenean peaks of Haute Ariège and Couserans and the sunset over the surrounding hills is stunning.
