The Jean Duvernoy historic center houses the objects found and listed during the excavation campaigns carried out on the site of the old castle of Montaillou.

It is the history seen by the great historians, Catharism and the Inquisition which are approached on picture rails in the form of parchment. There is extensive documentation in images and temporary historical landmarks. The Cathar period is approached thanks to the discoveries of the excavations carried out several decades earlier and a large-scale model. An exhibition evokes the life of the inhabitants with everyday objects (tools) and the market economy (currencies), food and the land. Montaillou is a village made famous by Professor E. LEROY LA DURIE's best seller, one of the best-selling history books in the world.
