The Château de Lagarde is the largest castle in Ariège, it is best known by the romantic name of "Versailles of the Pyrenees" because of its size with its 15-hectare park of French gardens.

Originally a medieval castle, it was built in the first half of the XNUMXth century on a hill by the lord of Montségur, François de Lévis. Abandoned after the first Empire, it was looted, the stone was resold.
Still standing for 700 years, this romantic ruin remains the privileged witness of the great Languedoc history.

This (private) castle can be visited during opening periods in July and August with exceptional entertainment:
- Saturdays from July 8 to August 19, from 18 p.m.: gourmet market for producers with entertainment.
-Tuesdays from July 11 to August 22 from 18:30 p.m.: chivalry tournaments and equestrian fire show.
