One of the vestiges of Gaston Phoebus... Treasure of the historical heritage of Pamiers.

This tower is the remnant of a building where the Count of Foix, Gaston Phoebus, created a mint in 1419 (according to oral tradition). But in 1422, Charles VII ordered the immediate shutdown of the workshop. In the following century, Henri IV decided to transfer the monetary workshop from Toulouse to the town of Pamiers. In 1596, the Hôtel des Monnaies in Toulouse was opened again and that of Pamiers was closed.
