Soulcem Valley

This pastoral and natural area has seen the development of villages of orris, witnesses of a rich mountain life.
Man has used Soulcem Valley for millennia. From the Neolithic period, pastoralism began at the same time as the destruction of a sparse forest which covered the flattest areas and was mainly made up of Scots and hook pines.
Summer pastoralism, around huts which took the form of orris (in dry stone) since the end of the Middle Ages, remained a very dynamic activity until the XNUMXth century.
In the 1980s, a dam was built on one of the old pastoral dishes.
The departmental road to the Carla parking lot now serves as a pastoral track and tourist access for walkers and mountain dwellers.
