Nestled in the heart of its pine forest, the Guzet station is located less than 2 hours from Toulouse in the Pyrenees Ariègeoises Natural Park. It is the ideal ski resort to spend a weekend in the snow!
The wow moment of our weekend? The toboggan run after skiing! I'll take you on board to tell you all about it!

Arrival in Guzet

After an hour's drive from Saint-Girons, we arrive at the parking lot at Guzet station at the end of the afternoon. In winter, toboggan runs take place during the February holidays only, after the ski slopes close after 1 p.m. We take the Picou chairlift to get to the start of the rail toboggan.

Our presence at the top at this hour takes a completely different turn from the one we are used to seeing when we come to enjoy the ski slopes of Guzet. The tumult and bustle of skiers has given way to the calm of nature.

After a superb ascent in the chairlift, we arrive at an altitude of 1700m, not very far from the start of the sled. The panoramic view is frankly… breathtaking! The sky gradually changes color, degrading from blue to orange, the sun is setting.

A guaranteed thrill ride

All impatient, we head to the start of the sled! Despite the cold, we are all ready to descend one by one the 1.5 km of the monorail toboggan! For my part, I am overcome by two emotions: excitement and apprehension! Is this my very first time?

I sit alone in the sled and am the first of us 4 to take the start. Knees under the chin, hands on the brake handle, I'm ready!

Luge à Guzet

From the first meters I quickly understand that I will see all the colors! A first tunnel, then a second then it accelerates ... My apprehension gave way to real sensations! I cross the snow-covered trees, a tight turn then a second, a footbridge, then it turns and it returns and it accelerates again ...

Good to know

Tickets are sold on the day of the descent, from 10:30 a.m. at the Guzet 1400 ticket offices and on ariegepyrenees.com 24h before! Going to the ticket office is mandatory to collect the ticket purchased on the internet.

In the event of rain or bad weather, the technical teams reserve the right to cancel the sledging activity and to postpone tickets as far as possible.

It's already the end! ? It goes so fast! When I arrive at the bottom I have only one word in my mouth: Encooooore!

What I really liked beyond the sensations it provides, is being in control of my "vehicle". We manage our speed as we want: at the beginning I was a little cautious, I braked a lot, but little by little, when confidence took over, I gave up!

In short, I loved it, I highly recommend it. And good news! The toboggan is also open in summer!
So since we loved winter, we went back in summer. After a good little meal at the Beauregard chalet, the same team was amazed again, but this time in a green setting!

Adventurer at heart, I am a born globetrotter! In addition to traveling the 4 corners of the world, I like to walk in the valleys dear to my heart: those of Couserans. Attending a transhumance, a festival, buying my cheese directly from the producers or at the Saint-Girons market are some of my favorite moments.
